One of Costain's earliest photographs is this view of New York City's upper Fifth Avenue across from Central Park in winter during the early 1930's.  The avenue appears to have once been a two way street  with a center median large enough for parking.  The image is both ordinary and romantic.  Despite the period cars and clothing, the photograph seems timeless.
