This dye transfer photo is by Harry Callahan (1912-1999,) one of the most highly respected American photographers of the last century. He was a native of Chicago and like his contemporary, Arthur Siegel, started exploring color with images of the city's busy streets during the early 1950's.
The intense blue of the sky in this image is impossible to simulate in a chromogenic photo.
