This is a rare dye-transfer color still life by J. Walter Collinge (1883-1964) who has been cited as Santa Barbara, California's master photographer. Active during the early part of the twentieth century, much of his work was shot outdoors in black and white, documenting people, buildings, and events in Santa Barbara. What would be considered his art photography was also printed in black and white or hand-colored.
