No. 12
This image of the Douglas Aircraft Factory in Midwest City, Oklahoma was photographed in 1943 by the architectural photography firm of Hedrich-Blessing, based in Chicago. More than 10,000 C-47 Cargo Planes (known as “Goonie Birds” by members of the U.S. Air Force during World War II) were manufactured here. Without knowing it’s provenance one might imagine it to be the work of Hitler’s architect and stage manager, Albert Speer.
