This view of Manhattan’s East River skyline is another great photograph by Samuel Gottscho. This particular print was a personal gift from Gottscho to Dorothy C. Miller, the first curator of photography at the newly founded Museum of Modern Art with the inscription: “I have never ceased to wonder at the marvel of photography as it freezes a split-second for eternity, the glorification of industry.”
