DoDo Jin Ming (b.1955) grew up in Beijing and trained as a concert violinist before her interests turned first to performance art and then photography.

In her images of turbulent seas off the coasts of Maine, Nova Scotia and Hong Kong, she photographed the ocean and sky separately, but in one frame, using a large-format Graflex camera with Polaroid film.
