This unattributed tri-color carbro portrait of singer, actress, comedian, and songwriter Gertrude Niesen (1911-1975) was probably photographed for The New York Daily News. In 1939 a portable camera capable of exposing three negatives with three color filters at once was developed by the Daily News' Harry Warnecke, making it possible to shoot tri-color carbro photographs outside a studio.
