This shizophrenically designed interior was shot by Holmes I. Mettee (1881-1947,) a photographer whose work included commercial, editorial and art or "salon" photography.
The style of the room pictured here jumps from "Federal" to "Regency" to "Department Store Mock-up Colonial" replete with a streamlined door, a ceiling with metallic studs, and a painted linoleum floor.
The color saturation in this dye-transfer print is considerably deeper than anything seen in contemporary photography.
