No. 21

O. Winston Link (1914-2001) spent most of the 1950's documenting life along the rails of the last steam railroad company, The Norfolk & Western, by staging vignettes in large format prints like this one.  Here you see an old-fashioned gasoline pump and its attendant frustrated by a power outage.  This image of an unreliable old-fashioned machine is relieved by the appearance of a 1952 Buick convertible, apparently a symbol of youth in some parts of West Virginia.
