Fred Zinnemann (1907–1997,) the great film director of High Noon, From Here to Eternity, A Man for All Seasons, et al., shot a series of photographs exploring Manhattan during the two year span after his arrival in New York from Austria in 1931, and before his departure for Hollywood.
