Costain had an ongoing commercial relationship with the Ford Motor Company during the late 1930's and 40's.  This is an image of the front grille and bumper of a1941Ford Super Deluxe. The yellowish tint in this and other black and white photos by Costain is not the result of aging.  Toning was a deliberate aesthetic and archival choice for many of his gelatin silver prints.
