In 1940 Costain travelled to Nassau, the Bahamas to photograph the newly redecorated official winter residence of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor ("Government House") for Town and Country Magazine. The photo's inscription indicates that the two snuffboxes seen here once belonged to Admiral Horatio Lord Nelson - the round one commemorates the history of the Battle of Trafalgar, October 21, 1805 and the octagonal snuffbox dates back to 1664, a relic from Nelson's collection.
